Moon Ska Records News Update
Greetings from Moon Ska. Sorry that we haven’t written to you in a few
weeks! Hope you’re doing well. Here’s the latest…
(remember, all dates and info can be found on our website: http://www.moonska.com!)
“2-Tone Army” hits Brazilian MTV:
A few weeks ago, The Toasters music
video for “2-Tone Army” was aired on Brazilian MTV’s “120 Minutes.”
Moon Ska is also in negotiations to have several of our tracks licensed
to a Brazilian record label that plans to release a compilation of Moon
Ska bands. (And speaking of “120 Minutes,” did you catch Dicky from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones crediting Bucket, The Toasters and Moon for keeping the ska scene going?)
Moon Ska in Japan:
Moon Ska Records has just inked a deal with
Tachyon/Manjaro Records in Japan to license twenty Moon Ska CD’s for
release in Japan over the next two years! The first CD is slated for
release in August. Details coming soon!
Skavoovie video shoot:
Skavoovie and the Epitones are shooting their
debut music video with director Cat Del Buono. The video for “Blood Red
Sky” from the band’s upcoming CD “Ripe” (out 5/8/97) promises to be a
surreal experience a la David Lynch. The “Blood Red Sky” video should
be out and on air in late May.
New Toasters Music Video:
The second music video from The Toasters for “I Wasn’t Going to Call You Anyway” is finally finished! Moon Ska video promotions guy/director Drew Sentivan has completed all of the tweaking of this video — and it’s fantastic! Moon Ska will begin servicing this video next week — and we have contracted a video promotions company to give it an extra push. We’ll keep you updated on airings of this video.
The Return of Tommy McCook:
Moon Ska has just signed with ska producer extraordinaire King Bravo to release a new twenty-one track CD titled “The Authentic Ska Sound of Tommy McCook.” The all-star line-up of musicians scheduled to play with Tommy McCook includes Lester Sterling, Lloyd Brevett, Lord Tanamo, Bill Smith, Lynn Tait, Winston Grennan, Wackie Henry, Theophilius Beckford, Bucket and Sledge. Recording takes place at Bravo’s studio in late April — and this CD should come out of the Moon pipeline this summer!
Ska Satellite Signing:
Moon Ska/Ska Satellite Records welcomes Michigan’s ska-punkers Army of Juan to the fold! The recording of their debut CD is finished – and they are working with one of our graphic artists to pin down the artwork. Look for their release early this summer!
