Moon Ska Records News Update

Here’s the news:

Hey, everybody:

I’m going on vacation next week (7/21), so things in the promo office will slow down a bit. Patti will be holding down the fort while I’m gone, so be nice to her. I will be back in the office on 7/28. (Steve Shafer)

Please check out our new release schedule and all the tour dates (support live ska music)!

(remember, all dates and info can be found on our website: http://www.moonska.com).

Moon Ska welcomes:

Moon Ska welcomes California’s Mobtown to the label! We are stoked to be working with such a fine ska band! Info on their upcoming Moon CD will be forthcoming. In the meantime, check out their summer tour of the US (dates are listed below), as well as their fine debut CD (on Steady Beat), titled “The Rhythm of Ska.”

Skavoovie Music Videos:

Rive Video Promotions will begin servicing the new Skavoovie & The Epitones and Isaac Green & The Skalars music videos next week — just in time to support the Moonstomp 2 tour (with these two bands, plus Spring Heeled Jack). Look for “Blood Red Sky” (from Skavoovie’s excellent new “Ripe” CD) and “High School” (from IGATS cool “Skoolin’ with the Skalars) on a music video show near you.

Music and video placements:

Word has it that The Toasters’ “I Wasn’t Going to Call You Anyway” is all over M2 when it is aired a few hours a day on MTV — and that the Let’s Go Bowling video for “Spy Market” was on “Skaturdays” last week. Also, several people have called me up about hearing The Toasters, Scofflaws and Isaac Green and the Skalars on Lifetime’s “The Place” (this is legit, as they have received our permission to use our music in their audio beds).

College Radio

For all of those of you in college radio land, Moon Ska will, for the first time, have a booth at the upcoming CMJ Festival in NYC in September. So, don’t be a stranger — stop by, visit and pick up some goodies and info. Additionally, we will be holding a CMJ/Moon Ska showcase the last night of the CMJ Festival (September 6) at Wetlands! The tentative line-up will be Skinnerbox, Skavoovie & The Epitones, Isaac Green & The Skalars and Easy Big Fella (a brilliant line-up, if may say so).

Anyone who is interested in arranging for radio or press interviews, instores, etc. with touring bands should contact Patti Rios at (212) 860-0300, any day of the week!

Zinesters & The Skazette

Noah Wildman now will be handling all correspondence with skazines, so please contact him at (212) 673-5538 or via e-mail at moonska@walrus.com. All mail should still be directed to the Moon Ska PO Box. Noah also will be assuming editorship of the “Skazette” (bless him) from yours truly (I’ll still contribute!), so all inquiries about advertising, etc. should be directed his way.

Thanks for reading this! I need to get back to checking my “Magic 8-Ball” – to stay ahead of the competition!
